In the period from April 4 to 8, 2022, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a Diagnostic mission of the World Customs Organization (hereinafter-WCO) on the rights for intellectual property objects.

          This mission was led by WCO experts Maurice Adefalou and Goran Bogatinovski, as well as Director of the Regional Office for Institutional Development of the WCO European Region Eser Cengel.

          During the mission, experts visited a number of government agencies and the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport. During the visit, the responsible departments made a report on the general situation in the field of observance of the intellectual property rights.

          A meeting was also organized with the copyright holders included in the register of intellectual property objects for a more detailed understanding of the key points of the mechanisms for the protection of the rights for intellectual property objects.

          As interested units of the SRC, the following took part: the Customs Operations Administration of the Control Department, the Administration of International Cooperation, and the Training and Methodological Center.

          On the final day of the mission, the SRC staff and WCO experts performed fruitful work to form a final report on the status of various instruments operating at the national level.

          The mission presented a number of positive points on customs administration issues, as well as recommendations that will allow identifying new directions in the protection of intellectual property rights and developing specific mechanisms for their implementation.

          The event confirmed the fruitful interaction of all participants of the mission and the importance of further prospects for cooperation between the Customs Administration of Kazakhstan and the WCO.
