
In the period from February 22 to 23, 2023, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the International Tax and Investment Center held the «Silk Road» Tax Forum in the southern capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty, which was attended by representatives of the public and private sector, as well as tax experts.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vice-Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azamat Amrin and Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan Daniyar Zhanalinov.
In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of the SRC MF RK noted that this platform is an excellent opportunity to discuss the most pressing issues in the field of taxes and taxation and has far-reaching goals aimed at improving tax administration. At the same time, he added that the tax system of Kazakhstan is developing at a dynamic pace, the processes of digitalization of tax administration and services are being implemented, while tax mechanisms are being improved, stimulating the economic growth of the real sector of the economy through simplifying the taxation procedure.
The forum was attended by representatives of the tax administrations of Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Georgia.
The forum participants discussed key issues of tax administration, such as: Regional economic development and general factors of fiscal policy, issues of international direct taxation policy, indirect taxation policy and administration, coordination of trade and tax policy to promote regional trade and counter illegal trade.
In the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Central Asian States and Georgia, interregional cooperation has advanced in many areas and sectors and serves as an example of multilateral partnership. The participants confirmed the exceptional importance of developing a regional vision and cooperation on key topics of tax administration, and also expressed interest in strengthening joint actions in coordinating trade and tax policy.
