On April 21, 2023, at the initiative of the Chinese side, the first meeting of the heads of customs services was held in the "Central Asia - China" format. The meeting was attended by the heads of customs services of the countries of Central Asia and China.

During the meeting, the parties considered the possibility of creating a working mechanism for border interaction at checkpoints and simplification of customs clearance procedures, as well as discussed various ways of cooperation within the framework of this mechanism, such as: cooperation on the Single Window project, exchange of experience on the development of "Intellectual Customs ”, cooperation on mutual recognition of the status of an authorized economic operator and the creation of a mechanism for cooperation in the fight against customs offenses.

At the initiative of the countries of Central Asia, the parties discussed the issue of considering the possibility of concluding an Agreement on the exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles moving across customs borders. The Chinese side said it would consider this proposal.  

Following the meeting, all parties supported the initiative of the Chinese side to create a Central Asia-China mechanism.

At the same time, the Chinese side invited all the heads of the customs services of Central Asia to hold an extraordinary face-to-face meeting in the "Central Asia - China" format on the Chinese side. The parties supported this initiative.
