NATIONAL SEMINAR WAS HELD ON DRUGS AND CRIME BY THE WORLD CUSTOMS ORGANIZATION AND THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE

On the basis of the Educational and methodological center of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Regional office in Central Asia of the United Nations Office on drugs and crime (UNODC) held a national seminar on awareness-raising in the field of trade in strategic goods and export control within the framework Of the Global Programme of UNODC and WCO (World Customs Organization) for container transportation control from 22 to 26 July 2019 in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan.
Sarah Abylkassimova Zhukanovna, Deputy Head of the Educational and Methodical Center of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, made a welcoming speech.
The purpose of the seminar is to strengthen knowledge and skills of the employees of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan (SRC), members of the port control Groups of customs posts “Seaport” and “Altynkol” in the field of trade of strategic goods and export control, as well as the use of modern methods of customs control to identify high-risk goods, dual-use goods and weapons of mass destruction. The trainers were experts from UNODC and WCO, Mr. Erdjan Saka (Turkey) and Mr. Vakhtang Tartarashvili (Georgia).
During the training, participants were informed about international standards, principles of control and sale of export control goods, regulation and licensing of strategic goods, modern models of combating transnational criminal and terrorist networks involved in the illegal supply of materials for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) weapons, related dual-use goods, explosives and explosive precursors, as well as firearms, we also had the opportunity to participate in practical exercises to identify risk indicators related to goods subject to strategic control.
The event was successful, as part of the planned program by active interaction between the lecturer and the audience.
According to the results of the seminar, certificates on successful professional development will be sent to the participants.
