On April 4, 2022, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the opening session of the Diagnostic Mission of the World Customs Organization (WCO) on Intellectual Property rights.

The session was opened with welcoming speeches by Deputy Chairman of the SRC MF RK Kairat Dzhumagulov, representatives of the WCO Maurice Adefalou, Goran Bogatinovsky and Eser Chengel.

During the meeting, the objectives and procedures of the mission were discussed. The experts presented an overview of the new WCO Strategy in the field of intellectual property, as well as new tools.

From the Kazakh side, the Сhief Expert of the Department of Customs Operations of the Department of Control SRC MF RK, Myrzagali Bolat made a report on the general situation in the field of intellectual property rights in Kazakhstan and in the Kazakh customs.

The Parties carried out fruitful work and expressed their intentions to continue the dialogue in order to achieve the mission's goal, which is to compile a final report on the status of various instruments operating at the national level.

The Diagnostic Mission of the WCO will take place in the period from April 4 to April 8, 2022 in the city of Nur-Sultan.

The mission will include a series of meetings with stakeholders, including senior management staff, directors and key employees of the SRC of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other state bodies on intellectual property issues, copyright holders and representatives of the National Institute of Intellectual Property.
